When you hear the name “PRECISION”, several things come to mind. The very name PRECISION Boilers is a direct reflection of the company’s philosophy. It has been a continuing premise since the founding fathers engaged in metal parts fabrication for the World War II services.

In 2000, PRECISION marks its fifty-eighth year of continuous operation as one of the most quality conscious privately owned boiler manufacturers in the industry. PRECISION has progressed from the “war effort” fabrication to a variety of equipment servicing the hydronic heating, plumbing and process industries. The quality of workmanship displayed from the beginning has been built upon to this day.

In January of 1983, PRECISION was sold to Machinery Manufacturing of East Tennessee and relocated to Morristown, Tennessee. The new leadership of PRECISION has taken the company to a multi-line manufacturing operation still serving the heating and plumbing industry. The PRECISION product line has, for many years, included the popular line of Electric Hot Water and Steam Boilers, and Electric Hot Water Storage Heaters. Through the 1980’s, gas fired products were developed, and the introduction of atmospheric gas fired copper finned tube and power gas fired vertical firetube boilers and water heaters that followed. The growth of products continued with an expansion of the ASME pressure vessel line to include flash tanks, air receivers, air separators, bypass feeders, blowdown tanks, and condensate return / boiler feedwater systems. In addition to this, the indirect fired packaged hot water and steam generators, heat transfer packages, and accessory products were introduced.

In 1988, PRECISION entered the heat side thermal storage business by purchasing the technical and engineering data of Megatherm, Inc., a Rhode Island company who had built thermal storage products for over 20 years. Now manufactured under the trade name of “Thermogenetic”?, the systems are custom designed and utilize pressurized high temperature water storage from 240 to 18,000 gallons to provide domestic hot water, hydronic heating water, or process hot water. They are fired with electricity, steam, gas, oil, or a combination thereof.

Next to be introduced in 1990, was the PRECISION Compac Boiler with the smallest foot print in the industry. This hot water boiler packs up to 264kW in a cabinet 24” wide and 30” deep, and can fit easily through a 28” doorway. This line has since been extended to 480kW with a slightly larger enclosure.

During 1991, with an increase in personnel in the engineering department, PRECISION expanded their scope of custom products and services. Products such as Superheaters, Circulation Heaters, Electric High Pressure Steam Boilers ( up to 3,000PSI ), Electric and Steam Dual Fired Heaters, High Voltage Electrode Boilers, and a full line of Condensate Return / Boiler Feedwater Systems are now available from PRECISION. Additionally, the standard products like vertical firetube power gas fired boilers/water heaters, indirect fired storage water heaters, and semi-instantaneous water heaters have gained significant national market share.

In 1994, with production capacity becoming facility limited, PRECISION invested heavily in a new factory, doubling production area. The new plant was expanded 20,000 square feet in 1997, and plans are in process for another 65,000 square feet of manufacturing space to be added soon.

Through the years, the commitment to product improvement and a continuing quest for the highest standards of product performance have placed PRECISION in the world market as a leader in boilers, hot water heaters, tanks, and thermal storage systems. PRECISION has and documented the manufacturing processes according to the International Standards Organization and is proud to be ISO 9001 certified. Additionally, PRECISION holds the coveted Chinese Safety and Quality License proving successsful exporting capabilities.

Now, with both an aggressive management team and ample production capacity in place, PRECISION is positioned for continued growth into the next millenium and beyond.
